Photography and visual creation from Barcelona
I'm Neus Solà, a photographer and visual artist. I work at the intersection of photography, visual anthropology and embodied landscapes. My way of looking comes from documentary observation, but it doesn't stop there: I also construct images, invent and fabulate when that is what it takes to show something that would otherwise remain unseen.
I work with artists, companies, cultural institutions and independent projects to build their image: portraits that don't look like anyone else's, visual worlds for a body of work or an album, and the documentation of creative processes while they are happening.
Projects
Alongside that I develop long-term personal projects on body, memory and territory, with a particular interest in women's genealogies, forms of transmission and care. These are the six I am working on or have worked on:
Matria (ongoing). Cartographies of care: genealogy, transmission, body and territory.
Bloom (2025). A [post]natural trilogy on body, nature and artifice.
Roseta (2024). An author-led series.
The Amazons of Copons (2023). Women's work inscribed in a territory.
Nirvan (2017-2019). Body, identity and ritual in the hijra community in India.
Poupées (2015-2018). How femininity is learned and performed in childhood.
Commissions
I take commissions in four fields: portrait, visual worlds, live & process and cultural projects. If you have something in hand and think this gaze suits it, write to me and let's talk.
Meteora and aladeriva lab
I'm co-founder of Meteora, a creative studio working across photography, video and art direction, and founder of aladeriva lab, a situated research platform linked to walking practices, territory and ways of seeing.
