Poupées

Poupées looks at the construction of femininity through childhood, play and ritual.

Developed over three years in La Cité, Perpignan, the project emerged through sustained presence and close relationships with Catalan Gypsy families. Rather than describing a community, it focuses on the gestures, codes and forms of representation through which femininity is learned and performed.

The work moves between intimacy and social structure, observing how bodies become spaces where inherited imaginaries are repeated, negotiated and transformed.

Photography appears here as a practice of proximity — shaped by time, trust and shared experience.
